Thunder Hockey version 24.2.0.11 is the start of season server release. This release includes critical video playback improvements, ThunderCloud Data Sync status tracking, Priority Uploading to ThunderCloud, and various bug fixes. To ease the upgrade process, please have all your clients out of Travel Mode and connected to the server.
We strongly recommend upgrading all clients and servers running Thunder 24 to Windows 11 and Windows Server 2019. Please contact support to assist with backing up your DB and uninstalling Thunder and TC Services on your server before upgrading to Windows Server 2019. These operating systems include essential security updates and improved compatibility with Thunder 24.

To ensure a smoother playback experience, all Thunder 24 machines are encouraged to have
USB-C cables or USB-C video adapters to connect to external displays for any machine that has NVIDIA graphics in order to prioritize Intel Graphics. The HDMI or DisplayPort leverages NVIDIA graphics over Intel which may cause poor playback performance. USB-C ports with a DisplayPort icon also utilize the NVIDIA graphics and should be avoided.
-
The most recent Intel Drivers should be installed and are recommended; directions can be found HERE.
- Dell Precision 3490 and 3590s should stay on the Intel Drivers installed in the image.
- The recommended Intel Graphics Settings can be found HERE.
- Ensure the proper power plan options are set as this will help with video playback performance.

Known Issues
- When starting a Voiceover the audio recording does not begin until the space bar is pressed to start video playback.
-
On a Windows 11 Standalone Machine, the Client Transcode Queue Tool does not populate, but the assets are successfully pushed.
- Users can view the queue via the Catapult Thunder Queue Tool on the Desktop.
- If users select "Include Audio" for Tentacle Time Code AVCHD Import, audio will bleed through from the right channel into the source media in Thunder. More info on Tentacle Time Code.
- Due to a NETBIOS character limit, a name longer than 15 characters causes the xosadmin user to fail, resulting in Sync failures.
- We have seen longer import times for AVCHD Content (in Travel Mode and Connected to Server) due to anti-virus scanning.
- More information on resolving this issue via the Restricted User Tool can be found here.
- The Hotkey "Ctrl + Shift + 0" is a default Windows Hotkey so Color Tag #20 does not function properly.
Media Angle Upload Prioritization to ThunderCloud
A user with a multi-angle Network Capture will be able to choose which angle is uploaded first to ThunderCloud once capture completes. This will allow the user to know their prioritized angle will go to the top of the Thunder Transcode Queue. If a job is currently being processed, the desired angle will receive the highest priority to be processed next. The setting can be set in the Application Settings under the Organizer tab.
ThunderCloud Data Sync Status Tracking
During large ThunderCloud Data syncs, sync status will be logged in the Event Logs and TC Sync Utility. The sync status will be updated every five minutes to outline the percentage remaining of LAN to WAN synchronization and WAN to LAN synchronization, if applicable. It is important to note that percentage complete is not equivalent to the time remaining as certain transactions take longer. If a sync is occurring and the user attempts to start another sync, they will be alerted in the event log that there is already a sync ongoing with the corresponding status.
