Post-game import in Hub Pro takes Hub Pro packages and .xchange files. This guide covers the .xchange workflow, which brings game film and its .xchange play data straight into Hub Pro, with no Hub Pro export from Thunder. It works on Windows laptops, MacBooks, iPads and iPhones for post-game review. It's built for NFL and NCAA video coordinators and coaches.
Watch the overview
Before you start
- Each game comes as two files with the same name: the film as an .mp4 and its play data as an .xchange file. Keep each pair together.
- A game imported from .xchange is read-only for DataSync. Changes you make in Hub Pro don't sync back to ThunderCloud the way a Hub Pro package does, and you can't save new lists from it.
- On iPad and iPhone, put each game's .mp4 and .xchange files together in one folder. iOS won't let Hub Pro find the .mp4 from a selected .xchange file, so you pick the folder instead. One folder can hold several games, and each one imports.
NFL video coordinators: set up view sequences before the game. Before you leave for the game, create view sequences in Thunder with End Zone Home Backs Tight (EZHBT) and End Zone Visitor Backs Tight (EZVBT). Hub Pro doesn't convert those angles the way the GSIS workflow does in Thunder. Your sequences appear in Hub Pro automatically, so coaches don't need to do anything. NCAA programs can skip this.
Step 1: Open Import in Downloads
- On your Windows laptop or MacBook, open Downloads
in the side menu.
- Click Import
.
Step 2: Select the .xchange file
- Browse to the drive that holds your .mp4 and .xchange files.
- Select the .xchange file and click Open. The .mp4 with the same name is greyed out because Hub Pro brings in the film that goes with the .xchange file.
Step 3: Find the game in Downloads
- The game lands in Downloads, marked Full Video Available.
- Open the game from there.
Step 4: Choose a heading group
- When you open the game, your columns come from the Xchange import fields heading group: the play data from the .xchange file.
- You can also pick any heading group from the heading group menu. Another group lets you add play calls or other team specific data to your post-game breakdown.
The .xchange data only shows in Xchange import fields. Switch to another heading group and the .xchange columns aren't available.
Step 5: Pin Coaches Comment to the front
- Hub Pro adds a Coaches Comment column for your post-game notes. It starts as the last column in the list.
- Click Columns
, find Coaches Comment and click Pin left
. The column moves to the front of the list.
Step 6: Change your view sequence
- Click Select camera angle
to change your view sequence.
Step 7: Add coaches comments
- Click a cell in Coaches Comment and type, just like any other data column.
Step 8: Get your comments into Thunder
- Your edits stay in Hub Pro. To bring your coaches comments into Thunder, copy and paste them out of Hub Pro, or export the table to a CSV file.
- To export, click Share and choose Export table to CSV. Then import the CSV file in Thunder.
Step 9: Import several games at once
- Bringing in all three sides of the ball for your head coach? In the file picker, select several .xchange files and click Open. Every game imports.
- Each game appears in Downloads. Open them in separate tabs and move between them during post-game review.
Step 10: Import on iPad
- Put each game's .mp4 and .xchange files together in a folder.
- In Hub Pro, open Downloads
and tap Import
.
- In the Files window, go to the location that holds your folder.
- Open the folder, check that the .mp4 and the .xchange file are both there, then tap Open. Hub Pro imports the games in that folder.
Step 11: Review the game on iPad
- When the import finishes, the game is in Downloads and opens in Hub Pro.
- It's the same list as on a laptop: Xchange import fields, Coaches Comment and every view. Tap Select camera angle
to change views.
- To add a comment, tap a cell in Coaches Comment, type and tap Done.
Step 12: Import on iPhone
- Put each game's .mp4 and .xchange files together in a folder, just as on iPad.
- In Hub Pro, tap Downloads
, then tap Import
.
- Browse to your folder, open it and tap Open.
Step 13: Review the game on iPhone
- When the import finishes, the game is in Downloads. Tap it to open your plays.
- Go full screen to watch. To change your camera angles, tap the gear
in the player, choose View sequences and pick one.
Heading groups and Coaches Comment are on laptop and iPad. The iPhone is for importing and watching the game.
Need a hand?
- Film didn't come in? Check that the .mp4 has exactly the same name as the .xchange file and sits in the same folder. Hub Pro pairs them by file name, and without a match only the data imports.
- Can't save a new list? That's expected. An imported game is read-only, so new lists aren't available from it.
- My .xchange columns disappeared? You've switched heading groups. Choose Xchange import fields from the heading group menu to see the .xchange data (Step 4).
- No end zone view sequences in Hub Pro? For NFL post-game, your video coordinator creates EZHBT and EZVBT view sequences in Thunder (see Before you start). They appear in Hub Pro automatically.
- Edits not in Thunder? Changes don't sync back. Export the table to CSV or copy and paste your comments, then bring them into Thunder (Step 8).
