Overview
This document will outline how to set up Thunder to run using a customer authentication domain or local user. With these new changes users will no longer need to authenticate to servers to play media or sync
Catapult Admin User
For teams that do not wish to use a custom Authentication user, customers can continue to use the Catapult Admin user.
Installation:
On Server, AMS, Client, and TC Media Upload service installs check the Create Catapult Admin user account during the installation process
This will create the XOSAdmin Account on the database server, media servers, and clients.
Local Windows User
Teams use a local windows admin user for cross authentication
Installation
On Database Server, AMS, client, and TC Media Upload service installs uncheck the the Create Catapult Admin user account during the installation process
This will remove all remanence of the Catapult Admin account from the windows OS and SQL
Creating Authentication User - Local Windows Admin user
On Server and AMS systems create a local windows user that has admin privileges. The User must have the same name and password across AMS and server systems
Update Authentication User - Cloud Settings Manager
Open Cloud Settings Manager on Database server.
Under Cross Authentication Settings enter the Windows User credentials of the user created above.
Select Save. If the credentials are incorrect or if the user does not exist a warning message will appear
The following warning message will appear.
"Please restart Servers, Clients, AMS servers, and Systems running TC Media Upload service."
Click OK and restart all servers and client devices.
After restart confirm that clients can authenticate to the servers and all local XOS Services are started.
Domain User
Teams use a Domain user for cross authentication. If the customer decides to use a domain user for authentication all AMS, Clients and servers need to be on the same domain.
Installation
On Server, AMS,client, and TC Media Upload service installs uncheck the the Create Catapult Admin user account during the installation process
This will remove all remanence of the Catapult Admin account from the windows OS and SQL

IT creates domain user that has admin privileges.
Update Authentication User - Cloud Settings Manager
Open cloud settings manager
Under Cross Authentication Settings enter the Windows User credentials of the user created above
The following warning message will appear. Please restart Servers, Clients, AMS servers, and Systems running TC Media Upload service.
Troubleshooting and Error Messaging
If systems cannot successfully authenticate to the Server or AMS the following will occur. This would occur in the event a local user or domain user used for authentication had it's password changed but Cloud settings manager was not updated. This will also occur in the event a local user or domain user used for authentication had it's password, cloud settings was updated but the system was not restarted.
Client:
Local AMS Fails to start due to authentication issue
Catapult Event logs shows warnings that it cannot authenticate to AMS and Server
Warning when launching exchange agent that system cannot authenticate to AMS and Server
Warning when launching thunder hat system cannot authenticate to AMS and Server
AMS:
Local AMS Fails to start due to authentication issue
Catapult Event logs shows warnings that it cannot authenticate to AMS and Server
Server:
Local AMS Fails to start due to authentication issue
Catapult Event logs shows warnings that it cannot authenticate to AMS and Server
TC Media Upload Service:
Media upload service will not start due to authentication issue
Assets will not be found when pushed to the media upload service
Errors appear in the Media Upload service event logs
