Network Adapter, adjust your Transmit and Receive buffers on your LAN adapter to 1024

Navigate to Network and Sharing Center
-
Select change adapter settings
-
Right click on the active Ethernet adapter and select properties
-
Select Configure
-
Select the Advanced tab
-
Select Transmit Buffers and up the number to 1024
-
Select Receive Buffers and up the number to 1024
-
Select OK
NOTE: On some adapters, the location of the Transmit and Receive buffers could be different or the option is not available.

Adjust Local Security Policy Settings
-
Right click on Start menu and select Run
-
Type secpol.msc and hit Enter
-
In the menu, select Local policies
-
Select Security Options
-
Toward the bottom of the list, enable both User Account Control: Admin Approval for the Built-in Administrator account and User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode.

Navigate back to the menu and select Network List Manager Policies
-
For each network listed, change the network location to Private by right clicking, going to Properties, selecting the Network Location Tab and changing Location Type to Private. This option will not be available In the All Networks selection.

Turn User Account Control Off
-
Right click on Start menu and select Search
-
Type UAC and select Change User Account Control Settings
-
Move the scroll bar down to Never notify and select OK. Acknowledge any popup that comes up.

Adjust Windows Visual Performance Settings
-
Right click on This PC icon on the desktop and go to properties
-
Select Advanced System Settings
-
Under Performance, select Settings
-
First select Adjust for best performance to clear all selections and then select Custom
-
Check off Show shadows under windows, Show thumbnails instead of icons and Smooth edges of screen fonts.

Select Apply and OK.

Adjust DPI and Resolution Settings
-
Right click anywhere on the screen and select Display settings
-
It is recommended all displays connected should be set to 100% DPI and a resolution of 1920x1080.

To change the settings, simply click on the Display(s) listed and select the drop down menus below to set DPI and Resolution. If a change is made, you will need to either log out and log back in or restart the computer.

Create a new power plan and adjust settings
-
Navigate to Control Panel
-
Select System and Security
-
Select Power Options
-
Select Create a power plan
-
Select High Performance and for Plan name enter XOS Power Plan
-
Select Next
-
For all selections for Turning off the display and Putting the computer to sleep On battery and Plugged in, select Never.

Select Create
-
Select the XOS Power Plan and choose change plan settings
-
Select Change advanced power settings
-
Under Hard disk -> Turn off hard disk after- Set on battery and plugged in to Never
-
Under Sleep
-
Sleep after – Set both on battery and plugged in to Never
-
Allow hybrid sleep – Set on battery and plugged in to Off
-
Hibernate after – Set on battery and plugged in to Never
-
Allow wake timers – Set on battery and plugged in to Disable
-

Under USB settings->USB selective suspend setting- Set on battery and plugged in to Disabled
-
Under Intel Graphics Settings-> Intel Graphics Power Plan (If Applicable) - Set both on battery and plugged in to Maximum Performance

Now select Apply and Ok to exit advanced settings

Go back one level to Power Options
-
Select Choose what closing the lid does
-
Select Change settings that are currently unavailable
-
Uncheck Turn on fast Startup
-
Select Save Changes and exit Power Options

Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flushing on OS disc
-
Right click on the Start menu and select device manager
-
Expand Disk Drives
-
Select your OS SSD drive, right click and select properties
-
Select the Policies tab
-
Check off Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flushing on the device. Both check boxes under the policies tab should now be selected.

Select OK and exit device manager
