XOS Imaging using Macrium Reflect V1.1
Part 1 – Preparing Bootable Media

Download the ver 7.3.5.5.5 Macrium Reflect Technician USB files.
- For systems newer than 2022, use ver 8.1.7909
- Download the desired image from the list of Available Catapult Thunder Images
- Plug in a flash drive (no bigger than 32GB) on any system. Go to My Computer and right click the inserted flash drive and select format. This will completely erase whatever is on it so backup files if they are important.
- Under File System, make sure it says Fat32, for volume label you can name it whatever you want, make sure Quick Format is selected, and then click Start. This will take a few moments to complete. Close out when it is finished.

Open up the zip file that contains the Macrium Reflect Technician USB files. Drag and drop the 18 files and folders from the zip to the flash drive.

- Remove the flash drive and plug into the system that is about to be imaged. Store in a safe place for future use.
- Take a second flash drive or external hard drive – this one should be 64GB or larger – and plug into the system.
- Drag and drop the necessary image files to this drive. The image files can be downloaded from Available Catapult Thunder Images.
Part 2 – Booting to Macrium Reflect from Flash Drive

On the system that will be imaged, shutdown the system and remove any non-OS drives.
- For example, remove media drives from the server, remove drive bays from laptops, and/or remove media drives from desktops.
- For any non-Surface system, plug in the flash drive that contains the Macrium Reflect Technician USB bootable files. Highlight the flash drive you inserted and press enter to load the software.
- For non-Surface systems: To boot to the Boot Menu press F12 for Dell systems and ThunderVR systems, F10 for Knoll Creeks and Hunter Caves, and F6 for MS Servers. Select the appropriate flash drive option and hit enter to boot to Macrium Reflect. For the TC-10 hit Delete key and navigate to Save and Exit and under Boot Override select the USB option to boot to.
- For Surface devices, use a USB adapter to plug in the Macrium Reflect Technician USB, Keyboard, and Mouse.

For Surface Pro devices:
- On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, hold down the Volume Plus button and press and release the Power button. Click the Enabled button next to Secure Boot Control and select Disabled (Figure 1 #1).
- On Surface Pro 3 there is an additional step, to Configure Alternate System Boot Order (Figure 1 #2). Change to USB > SSD. Click Exit Setup.
- Press and hold the power down button to shut down the Surface.
- Power on the Surface Pro 2, hold down the Volume Minus button and press and release the Power button. It will take a moment to load the software and will boot to Macrium Reflect to begin the image process.
- Power on the Surface Pro 3, it will take a moment to load the software and will boot to Macrium Reflect to begin the image process.
- Power on the Surface Pro 4, hold down the Volume Minus button and press and release the Power button. It will take a moment to load the software and will boot to Macrium Reflect to begin the image process.

Part 3 – Imaging the System

- Macrium Reflect defaults to the Restore tab, so just make sure that tab is always selected when applying the image.
- Select Browse for an Image File.

- Navigate to the flash drive and select the image you are applying to the system and click Open.

- Select a disk to restore to. There should only be one drive you can select if you removed the drives as stated in Part 2.1. If you haven’t done so, please shutdown the system and remove the drives so you don’t accidently overwrite other media.

- The Destination should now be the drive you want to overwrite as seen in Figure 6.
- Note: If imaging a T5810 that has an SSD instead of a mechanical HDD, you will have to select each partition individually in the Destination section and select the Red X “Delete Existing Partition” before proceeding with the imaging process. See Figure 6 and look in the bottom left corner for the Red X with “Delete Existing Partition” button. The destination drive will now turn grey as it is blank.
- Click Next and then click Finish.
- A message box appears asking if you want to overwrite the existing drive. Click continue to overwrite to begin the imaging of the drive.
- Once complete click OK, click Close, and then hit the X in the top right corner to exit the program.
- The computer will restart now and you can remove the flash drives.
