Upgrading From SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2019
Uninstall SQL 2012
-
- Download the above SQL Auto Installers folder and extract the zip. Copy the 04 SQL Upgrade Files to the Root of your C drive.
- Right click the Windows Start button > Select Apps and Features > Confirm both "XOS Thunder" and "Catapult Thunder" do not show up in the app list. If either of them do then uninstall it.
- Go to your C drive and open the "04 SQL Upgrade Files" folder that you copied over in step 1. Open the "SQL 2012 Auto Uninstaller" folder > Open the "Uninstall" folder > Right click Run as Administrator on the "SQL 2012 Uninstall" batch file.
- This will open a black cmd prompt window. Leave this window up until you see a prompt that says "Press any key to continue". At this point you can press any key and it will close the window.
- Reboot the machine
- Right click the Windows Start button > Select Apps and Features > Search for "SQL" in the "Search this list" section > confirm there are no SQL components listed > If some still exist then run the "SQL 2012 Uninstall" batch file again. Once it finishes running check Apps and Features a second time to see if anything is still listed for SQL. Select any SQL components that still show up in the list and click uninstall. Once the list is empty of all SQL components reboot the machine and then continue to the install step.
