When deleting old or inactive licenses, it is possible that they will continue to reappear in the list of licenses. To avoid this, follow these steps:
- Activate the license for any affected devices.
- Wait 5-10 minutes.
- The Thunder License Service can be manually cycled to shorten this time, but in most cases it is best to wait
- Delete the license without deactivating first.
This is due to the License Service on the database interpreting a missing, unlicensed system as needing to request a license, so the service on will push those devices back to SSO to request licensing. Deleting the license while it's active identifies to the server that it needs to remove its version of the license as well, and it will process the deletion.
This service makes its checks every 5 minutes, so wait at least 5 minutes from the time the final license-to-be-deleted is activated before deleting to ensure it does not return.
If licenses continue to appear after these steps, contact Thunder Support to investigate if multiple instances of the Licensing Service are running.
