Thunder QR Code Time Sync
QR Code (QRC) time sync will allow Thunder to automatically adjust the time code captured on imported media in order to provide accurate Universal Time Code. Thunder will automatically recognize the QR code, calculate the offset and apply it to the clips. This can be done during the AVCHD import process or after import by using the Radar Synchronize Clock tool. The offsets created are unique to each camera being used. Users leverage named cameras in Thunder to avoid having to shoot a new QR code per card.
Camera UTC Setup
- Each camera or recording device will need to be set up for free-run timecode to ensure that clips are stamped with UTC information.
- The steps involved in setting your camera for free-run timecode will vary depending on the manufacturer and model.
Filming the QR Code
- Users should film the QRC from their mobile device (phone or tablet) prior to filming content (Practice/Game) on each camera.Using a mobile device with cellular data ensures that the time is GPS accurate.
- Use this website to access the QRC:
https://tc.xosdigital.com/camtime/
- The clip should start directly on the QRC and should last at least 3 seconds.
- It’s highly recommended to include the text time at the bottom of the QRC in the clip. This will help verify the clock information after Thunder import.

Thunder Setup
- Users will need to set a profile for each camera that will be used during practice and games.
- To create your camera profile you’ll need to load an SD card to access the Import AVCHD menu. This does not have to be an SD card specific to each camera.
- Click on Import → Import AVCHD Content.
- Click on Load Clips then choose Next.
- Click on Add Camera then name the profile.
- Continue until you’ve created all the cameras you’ll be using.
- The Import Camera dropdown will display all available cameras, as well as the most recent offset calculation being used.
- Users can delete a camera profile by selecting the camera in the Import Camera dropdown then choosing Delete Camera.
- This will only delete the profile.
- Previously imported files will not be affected.
AVCHD Import Workflow
- When ready, import the content into Thunder using the AVCHD import workflow.
- Users should go through their normal AVCHD workflow of selecting, grouping and removing clips.
- Do not remove the QRC clip. Doing so will void the entire workflow. The QR clip must be imported in with the card.
- After choosing the View users should select the Import Camera
- You Must Select a Camera Profile To Use the QR Code Workflows. In the event you do not select a camera profile, you will need to reimport the card contents.
- Click Finish to start the import process.
- The user will be asked to use the QRC time code recognized by Thunder.
- Clicking Yes will apply the offset and finish the import.
- Clicking No ignore the offset and use the original time provided by the camera.
- During the next import from that camera, users should make sure that they Import Camera has the correct profile.
- The offset is remembered as part of the profile.
- This will automatically apply the offset to the card.
- If Thunder detects that the original AVCHD content does not have the required embedded timecode the user will receive the following warning.
