Issue: Error loading TCX Java Applet
When trying to load the TCX Java Applet, you receive the following error that the application is blocked by java security.
List of Symptoms
- Java version: Java 8 Update 281 - 8.0.2810.9 is installed.
- You can confirm this by navigating to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- You can confirm this by navigating to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- You receive the error above when trying to launch the Java app.
Expected Behavior
The Java app should launch, as long as Java and XOS Launcher are installed, allowing you to navigate in TCX to upload or download media.
Cause of the Error loading TCX Java Applet
Java's recent update removed the medium security level that allowed this app to launch previously. We need to add in exceptions to the TCX site.
Resolution or Troubleshooting Steps:
- Start> Configure Java
- Select the Security tab, then Edit Site List
- We need to add exceptions to the following URL:
http://tcx.xosdigital.com/- Hit Add
- Type in https://tcx.xosdigital.com
- After adding them in, choose OK and OK to close the Java Control Panel. Then return to TCX and "Launch Java App"
- Upon launch, you may receive the following prompt. Check the box to accept, then select Run
